Multi-clutch, Multi-shaft Hybrid Transmission

Patent validity till 2037

This is the new generation of multi-clutch, multi-shaft transmissions. This is designed as an improved alternate of dual clutch transmissions which are in use today. By incorporating three input shafts instead of two inputs shafts for fuel engine, the transmission is ready to upshift as well as down shift at all vehicle speeds. But while it improves the dual clutch mechanism, there is also a special way to mesh the input and output gears by connecting each output gear with two independent input gears, and these input gears are independently driven by fuel engine and electric motor.

The transmission seamlessly integrates two independent power sources (fuel engine and electric motor) that supply power and torque through separate input shafts while each power source is driven at different RPMs. This is a significant achievement for this new generation of transmission.

Another advantage of this transmission is that one set of input shafts can also work as output shafts. Hence one set of output shafts connects to one axle while the other connects to second axle. This way the transmission can drive both the axle independently to provide on demand 4×4 capabilities.
